Human Family Member #4

Well. It's official! Come November we will be a family of 7! That includes animals of course ;) We're adding human family member #4!

I've been avoiding the blog because I wanted to talk about it so badly but was really wanting to wait till I felt completely comfortable with the pregnancy. There is still a chance I could miscarry, especially with the amount of stress I have in my life at the moment, but as far as I can tell things are going well so far so I might as well enjoy it all.

Finding out I was pregnant was quite the ordeal! I had a very late period, which never happens to me, but the pregnancy tests were coming out negative. And not just one, I took about five and they all came out negative. I was having horrible cramping to, so that along with all the negative test results was really discouraging and made me think something was wrong, like I was having an ectopic pregnancy or something. So I made an appointment with the doctor and they did a blood test that day, did an exam and scheduled me for an ultrasound the following week to see what was going on inside me. A few days later it was confirmed by the blood test that I was in fact pregnant! I tried not to get too excited though, which was really hard, but knew I still had to see the results from the ultrasound to be 100% sure that at that phase everything was growing properly. The ultrasound ended up coming out good as far as there being no ectopic pregnancy, but I wasn't as far along as my last period date said I should be at. We were thinking I was almost 7 weeks along, but the baby measured at just 5 weeks 2 days. As long as I had a healthy growing baby inside me I was fine with that although it made me wonder when exactly it was that we conceived... that is still a mystery to us.

But moving on to today, I was 9 weeks as of yesterday. My first doctor's appointment isn't for a couple of weeks. I've had some issues with finding the right doctor and then ultimately went with my gut decision to ditch the doctor I'd seen twice and go with a midwife. I'll get more into that choice later on/

Besides being extremely tired most of the time and feeling nauseous on and off throughout the day, luckily without actually throwing up, this pregnancy has been relatively easy so far. That's a huge difference from being pregnant with Parker; I was throwing up sick, not being able to hold anything down, with her for the longest time. Oh and I run to the bathroom quite often! But that's to be expected :)


Brad and Parker are really excited, but at this point I would say Parker's winning in that department. She has wanted a sibling for as long as I know and is just so ecstatic that the time has finally come! She calls the baby a cheesecake... not really sure why but we can go with it :) We haven't really told anyone else, except our families and a select few close friends. We're waiting till we get to the 3 month mark to make a bigger announcement. 


I can't believe baby time is finally here. I told myself I would wait till I was married to go for #2 and I followed through, while some might not understand I am quite proud of myself for the fact. It took us 6 months to conceive this little thing, but the wait was worth it. And the next 7 months of waiting will be worth it too!
