Meeting with the Pediatrician

This was definitely a new experience for me, interviewing a doctor. I don't have the best track records with doctors. I've never had a primary physician, neither has Parker (or a pediatrician for that matter), I've changed my Gynecologist about 4 times since Parker's been born and we usually end up at Urgent Care or some sort of walk-in clinic when we do end up sick, which isn't that often because honestly we don't get sick but maybe once a year. So needless to say, we've got medical records all over the place and have never settled down. With Nash on his way I'm feeling the urge more and more to settle down and luckily the place we went to is able to care for our entire family.

We chose to go to a Holistic Clinic where the Doctors are actually Naturopaths. Luckily in our state Naturopaths can pretty much do anything a regular ol Doc can. The Clinic also has things like Accupuncture, Accupressure and Massage Therapy which is an awesome bonus. There are several reasons we chose to go with a Naturopath instead of a Doctor, but the main reason is our opinion on Vaccines. We wanted to go somewhere where our decisions wouldn't be heavily judged and we would get educated on alternative ways of going about immunizing rather than being told "If you don't follow the CDC Guidelines you're harming your baby and everyone around you" and then treated badly. I've have had tons of experience with this sort of treatment already and frankly I'm done with the attempts to make me feel like a horrible parent.

I am feeling really good about our choice and it makes me so happy to know that our small town has a full Holistic Center in it. This all helps me actually look forward to taking myself and my kids to the doctor now rather than feeling anxious and avoiding it at all costs.

Oh! And something awesome we learned both at our last Midwife appointment and at the meeting with the Naturopath, Accupressure has been shown to be able to turn a baby close to delivery time if need be! This is such a good thing to know in case Mr. Wiggle Worm decides to get funky in there and turn the wrong direction closer to his due date.

Wish us luck on this new medical direction in our lives! First Midwives, now Naturopaths. What's next?!
